Dr Lisa Dunbar Solas
Dr Lisa is the founder of Ancient Explorer. She established the business in 2017 with the mission of helping others to walk and explore our earth with respect and compassion. She is particularly passionate about raising awareness about indigenous communities and cultures.
She is an archaeologist and artist. She studied Archaeology at the Australian National University in Canberra. There, she was trained to read landscapes by surveying and excavating historical places in regional Australia. With her trained eye and tool kit, she set off to South America, where she began to explore the ancient world of the Inkas. In 2015, she was awarded a PhD after writing a dissertation on the sacred landscape of the Inka. Her thesis involved surveying a shrine and irrigation system in Ancash, Peru.
She lives on the ancestral lands of the Kaurna, in Adelaide, Australia. In her spare time, she loves to walk and sketch in nature. Her favourite animals are the koala, the kookaburra, dolphins and whales.
