Learning about Mums of the Wild
I have selected the book for two main reasons. The first is that it is a great introduction to the mothers of Nature for emergent readers. The book is informative; it shows children that mothers come from diverse backgrounds and species and have different ways to nurture their young.
It’s Wild Fun!
Wild about Mums is a fun and entertaining read for children, especially those who are emergent readers and for this reason, I also highly recommend the book. The language is playful and Bunting’s illustrations are colourful and fun. The book makes the experience of learning about animal mums very enjoyable. As a side note, creating entertaining picture books for young reader is something that Philip Bunting is passionate about. As he states on his website, he believes that when children find joy and pleasure in reading, the more likely they will return to book later in life. I agree with him.
If you would like to read the book, I invite you to take a glimpse at the book by watching my flip-through review. I give thanks to Hardie Grant Publishing for granting me permission to undertake this review.
